Front Disc Brake Pads: Installation
NOTE:
Pushing piston into caliper bore forces fluid back into master cylinder reservoir. To prevent spillage, draw a small amount of brake fluid from reservoir. Remove reservoir cap when compressing piston.
- Install NEW pads. See Figure:
- Install NEW pad wear indicator plate on inner pad.
- Apply disc brake grease to inner anti-squeal shims.
- Install NEW anti-squeal shims.
- Install NEW inner pad NEW wear indicator plates facing upwards.
- Install NEW outer pads.
WARNING: DO NOT allow grease to contact friction surface of pads. - Install caliper:
- Draw out a small amount of brake fluid from reservoir.
- Use an appropriate tool, press piston into caliper bore.
- Install caliper.
- Hold sliding pin and tighten caliper bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Check reservoir fluid level.
- Install flexible hose to shock absorber. Tighten brakeline mounting bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install front wheel. Tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- To ensure pads are contacting disc. depress brake pedal several times.
- check that brake fluid level is at the max line.
CAUTION:
DO NOT let piston dust boot wedge against edge of pads.
