Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point CALIBRATION  .
  1. INSPECT DLC3 (BETWEEN DLC3 (TC) AND DLC3 (CG)) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      D1-13(TC)-D1-4(CG) 10 to 14 V

      NG: Go to step   4

    1. NG: go to step   4 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. CHECK PTC (FOR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Check for CAN communication system DTC.

      Result: 

      RESULT DESCRIPTION

      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B
    1. B: REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ACCORDING TO OUTPUT CODE ( ) 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. CHECK ECM (DLC3 (TC) INPUT) 
    1. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3. SST 09843-18040
    2. Check if the engine warning light is blinking.

      OK: 

      Engine warning light is blinking.

    1. NG: REPLACE ECM ( ECM (1GR-FE)  ,  ECM (2UZ-FE)  ) 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

      REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID (SEE  OVERHAUL  ) 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN ECM AND DLC3 (TC)) ( HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION (1 OF 2)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      E8-23 (TC) - D1 -13 (TC) Below 1Ω

      1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
      2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN DLC3 (CG) AND BODY GROUND) ( HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION (2 OF 2)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      01-4 (CG) - Body ground Below 1Ω

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  6. CHECK ECM (DLC3 (TC) INPUT) 
    1. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3. SST 09843-18040
    2. Check if the engine warning light is blinking.

    Result: 

    RESULT DESCRIPTION (1 OF 2)

    Engine warning light is blinking A
    Engine warning light is not blinking B
    1. B: REPAIR OR REPLACE WIRE HARNESS OR ECM (TC AND/OR ECM CIRCUIT) 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  7. CHECK PTC (FOR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) (SEE  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING  ) 
    1. Check for CAN communication system DTC.

      Result:

      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B
    1. B: REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ACCORDING TO OUTPUT CODE ( ) 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP
