Inspection Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY OBD II SCAN TOOL OR HAND-HELD TESTER
- Check speedometer operation.
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester.
- Check that the prove moves as OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester directs in each range.
OK: The speedometer operates normally.
- NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Check speedometer operation.
- READ VALUE OF OBD II SCAN TOOL OR HAND-HELD TESTER
- Check output value of skid control ECU.
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the DATA LIST mode on the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester.
- Check that there is no difference between the speed value output from the speed sensor displayed by the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester and the speed value displayed by the speedometer when driving the vehicle.
OK: There is almost no difference from the displayed speed value.
- NG: GO TO BRAKE SYSTEM
- OK: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Check output value of skid control ECU.
- CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (SI)
- Remove the combination meter with connectors still connected.
- Shift the shift lever into neutral.
- Jack up one of the front wheel
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Measure voltage between terminal C12-16 of combination meter and body ground when the front wheels are turned slowly.

Standard: Voltage is generated intermittently.
- OK: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
