Rear Disc Brake Pads: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle.
  2. Remove rear wheel, temporarily install disc and tighten lug nuts.
  3. Check pad thickness through caliper inspection hole. See Figure. Replace pads if they are not within specification. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. NOTE: DO NOT disconnect flexible hose from brake caliper.
  5. Rotate Caliper:
    1. Remove bottom side sliding pin. See Figure.
    2. Loosen top side sliding pin, rotate caliper and suspend securely. See Fig 1.
  6. Remove and discard inner and outer brake pads with anti squeal shims. See Fig 2.
  7. Remove 4 pad support plates.
  8. Check disc thickness and runout. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS .
