Master Cylinder: Removal

  1. Remove air cleaner cover with air cleaner hose.
  2. Draw brake fluid from reservoir with a syringe.
  3. Disconnect level warning switch connector. See Figure.
  4. If equipped with vehicle skid control, disconnect reservoir hose.
  5. Disconnect brake lines:
    1. For vehicles without Vehicle Skid Control, Use a flare nut wrench to disconnect the 4 brakeline union nuts from the master cylinder and 2-way valve. See Figure.
    2. For vehicles with Vehicle Skid Control, Use a flare nut wrench to disconnect the 5 brakeline union nuts from the master cylinder and 3-way valve. See Figure.
  6. Remove the 2 master cylinder mounting nuts, remove the 2 or 3-way valve, master cylinder, and gasket.
