Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Toyota RAV4, 2002 Toyota Highlander, 2002 Toyota Camry, 2002 Lexus RX 300, and 2001 Toyota RAV4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the transmission control switch connector. Check for continuity between terminals No. 3 and 6 of transmission control switch. See Figure and Figure . If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If not, replace transmission control switch.
  2. Connect the transmission control switch connector. Check for continuity between terminals ODMS and E1 of ECM. See Figure. If continuity is as specified, replace ECM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If not, repair or replace wiring harness and connector.
