Inspection Procedure
- Perform Active Test By OBD II Scan Tool Or Toyota Hand-Held Tester
- Check speedometer operation
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester to DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester.
- Check that the prove moves as OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester directs in each range.
- OK: The Meter Operations Normally
- OK: Go To Step 2 , (Read Value Of OBD II Scan Tool Or Toyota Hand-Held Tester).
- NG: Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy
- Check speedometer operation
- Read Value Of OBD II Scan Tool Or Toyota Hand-Held Tester
- Check output value of skid control ECU.
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester to DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the DATA LIST mode on the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester.
- Check that there is no difference between the speed value output from the speed sensor displayed by the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester and the speed value displayed by the speedometer when driving the vehicle.
- OK: There Is Almost No Difference From The Displayed Speed Value.
- OK: Go To Next Step 3 , (Check Combination Meter Assy (SI)
- NG: Go To Brake System
- Check output value of skid control ECU.
- Check Combination Meter Assy (SI)
- Check voltage between terminal C12-6 of combination meter and body ground.
- Remove the combination meter with connectors still connected.
- Shift the shift lever to neutral.
- Jack up one of the front wheel.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Measure voltage between terminal C12-16 of combination meter and body ground when the front wheels are turned slowly.
Voltage Is Generated Intermittently
- OK: Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy
- NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector
- Check voltage between terminal C12-6 of combination meter and body ground.
