Inspection Procedure
- Perform Active Test By OBD II Scan Tool Or Toyota Hand-Held Tester
- Check fuel receiver gauge operation.
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester to DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester.
- Check that the prove moves as OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester directs in each range.
- OK: The Meter Operations Normally. Go To Step 2 , (Inspect Fuel Sender Gauge Assy (Main).
- NG: Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy
- Check fuel receiver gauge operation.
- Inspect Fuel Sender Gauge Assy (Main)
- Check fuel sender gauge (main) resistance.
- Remove the fuel sender gauge.
- Measure resistance between terminals 2 and 3 of fuel sender gauge for each float position, as shown in the chart.
Standard Resistance:
- OK: Go To Step 3 , (Inspect Fuel Sender Gauge Assy (Sub).
- NG: Replace Fuel Sender Gauge Assy
- Check fuel sender gauge (main) resistance.
- Inspect Fuel Sender Gauge Assy (Sub)
- Check fuel sender gauge (sub) resistance.
- Remove the fuel sender gauge.
- Measure resistance between terminals of fuel sender gauge for each float position, as shown in the chart.
Standard Resistance:
- OK: Go To Step 4 , (Check Harness And Connector (Between Fuel Sender Gauge And Body Ground).
- NG: Replace Fuel Sender Gauge Assy
- Check fuel sender gauge (sub) resistance.
- Check Harness And Connector (Between Fuel Sender Gauge And Body Ground). See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS

- OK: Go To Step 5 , (Check Harness And Connector (Between Fuel Sender Gauge And Combination Meter).
- NG: Repair Or Replace Harness And Connector

- OK: Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy
- NG: Repair Or Replace Harness And Connector
