Inspection Procedure

  1. Check Buzzer (Parking Brake Warning, Key Unlock Warning, Open Door Warning) 
    1. Check that the all of the warning buzzers sound.

    1. A : Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy 
    2. B : Go to step 2 
    3. C : Go to step   6 
    4. D : Go to step   10 
  2. Inspect Multiplex Network Body ECU 
    1. Check voltage.
      1. Remove the body ECU with connectors with still connected.
      2. Measure voltage between terminal CTY of body ECU and body ground.

      Standard voltage:

    1. OK: Go to step   5 . 
    2. NG: Go To Step 3  , (Inspect Front Door Courtesy Lamp Switch Assy.)
  3. Inspect Front Door Courtesy Lamp Switch Assy. 
    1. OK: Go To Step 4  , (Repair Harness And Connector (Between Boy ECU And Front Door Courtesy Lamp Switch).
    2. NG: Replace Front Door Courtesy Lamp Switch Assy 
  4. Repair Harness And Connector (Between Boy ECU And Front Door Courtesy Lamp Switch) 
    1. OK: Check And Replace Multiplex Network Body ECU 
    2. NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector 
  5. Check That Malfunction Disappear A Known Good Combination Meter Is Installed 
    1. Check that malfunction disappear when a known good combination meter is installed.

    1. A : Check And Replace Multiplex Network Body ECU 
    2. B : Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy 
  6. Read Value Of OBD II Scan Tool Or Toyota Hand-Held Tester 
    1. Check output value of key unlock warning switch.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester.
      4. Check the key unlock warning switch condition.
    1. OK: Go To Step   9 
    2. NG: Go To Step 7  , (Inspect Unlock Warning Switch Assy).
  7. Inspect Unlock Warning Switch Assy. See  BODY MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - DIAGNOSIS  . 
    1. OK: Go To Next Step  , (Check Harness And Connector (Between Body ECU And Key Unlock Warning Switch).
    2. NG: Replace Unlock Warning Switch Assy 
  8. Check Harness And Connector (Between Body ECU And Key Unlock Warning Switch) 
    1. OK: Check And Replace Multiplex Network Body ECU 
    2. NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector 
  9. Check That Malfunction Disappear A Known Good Combination Meter Is Installed 
    1. Check that malfunction disappear when a known good combination meter is installed.

    1. A : Check And Replace Multiplex Network Body ECU 
    2. B : Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy 
  10. Read Value Of OBD II Scan Tool Or Toyota Hand-Held Tester 
    1. Check output value of parking brake switch.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand-held tester.
      4. Check the parking brake switch condition.
    1. OK: Go To Next Step  , (Inspect Parking Brake Switch Assy).
    2. NG: Go To Step   13 
  11. Inspect Parking Brake Switch Assy 
    1. Check continuity.
      1. Check that the continuity exists between terminals of parking brake.
      1. Switch Pin Released: Continuity 
      2. Switch Pin Pushed In: No Continuity 
    1. OK: Go To Next Step  , (Check Harness And Connector).
    2. NG: Replace Parking Brake Switch Assy 
  12. Check Harness And Connector 
    1. OK: Go To Next Step  , (Check That Malfunction Disappear A Known Good Combination Meter Is Installed).
    2. NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector 
  13. Check That Malfunction Disappear A Known Good Combination Meter Is Installed 
    1. Check that malfunction disappear when a known good combination meter is installed.

    1. A : Check And Replace Multiplex Network Body ECU
