Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal

VSS detects transaxle output shaft RPM. See Figure and Figure . VSS outputs a 4-pulse signal for every revolution of transaxle output shaft. Signal is converted into a more precise rectangular wave form by combination meter. Signal is then delivered to ECM. Gear shift point and lock-up timing are controlled by ECM based on signals from vehicle speed sensor and throttle position sensor.
