Shift Solenoid SL
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota ECHO, 2002 Toyota Celica, 2001 Toyota ECHO, and 2001 Toyota Celica. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The following information can also be used to diagnose DTC P0770. For testing of shift solenoid SLT, see DTC P1760: SHIFT SOLENOID SLT CIRCUIT under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove transaxle oil pan. See LUBRICATION in appropriate SERVICING article. Remove shift solenoid SL. See Figure. Connect battery voltage to solenoid. Apply 71 psi (5 kg/cm2 ) of compressed air to solenoid with battery voltage connected. See Figure.
- With battery voltage applied, air should pass through solenoid. Disconnect voltage to solenoid. Ensure air does not pass through solenoid. Replace solenoid as necessary.
- Using a DVOM, measure resistance between solenoid body and solenoid connector terminal. Resistance should be 11-15 ohms. Replace solenoid as necessary.
