Brake Pedal Height: Adjustment

  1. Remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel and lower left side instrument panel insert. See Fig 2.
  2. Disconnect the stop light switch connector. See Fig 2.
  3. Loosen the stop light switch lock nut and remove the stop light switch. See Fig 1.
  4. Loosen the brake pedal push rod lock nut. See Fig 1.
  5. Adjust the pedal height by turning the brake pedal push rod. See Fig 1.
  6. Tighten the brake pedal push rod lock nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Install the stop light switch.
  8. Connect the stop light switch connector.
  9. Push the brake pedal in 0.20-0.59 in. (5-15 mm), adjust the stop light switch by turning the switch. Hold the switch in position that stop light goes off and tighten the nut.
  10. After installation, push the brake pedal in 0.20-0.59 in. (5-15 mm), ensure that stop light lights up.
  11. After adjusting the pedal height, check the pedal freeplay. See BRAKE PEDAL FREE PLAY .
  12. Install the lower left side instrument panel insert and lower No. 1 instrument panel. See Fig 2.
