Diagnosis & Repair

- Connect the OBD-II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3. Disconnect the EC1 connector. EC1 connector is a wire-to-wire Black connector located at center rear of engine. Connect the terminals of the disconnected EC1 male connector and EC1 female connector. Connect male connector terminal No. 2 to female connector terminal No. 3. Connect male connector terminal No. 3 to female connector terminal No. 2. See Fig 1. Turn ignition switch ON and push the OBD-II scan tool or hand-held tester main switch ON. After the engine is warmed up. perform quick racing to 4000 RPM 3 times. Check for DTCs. If DTC is the same, go to next step. If DTC is different, go to step 3.
- Check for open or short in wiring between EC1 connector and ECM. If problem exists, repair wiring as necessary. If problem does not exist, replace ECM.
- If DTC P0325 changed to P0330, check knock sensor circuit on left bank. If DTC P0330 changed to P0325, check knock sensor circuit on right bank. Check for open or short in wiring between EC1 connector and knock sensor(s). To access harness, it may be necessary to remove intake manifold. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article. If problem exists, repair wiring as necessary. If problem does not exist, replace knock sensor.
