Diagnosis & Repair

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check resistance of A/F sensor heater (bank 1 and/or 2 sensor 1). See SENSOR OPERATING RANGE CHARTS article. Replace as necessary. If resistance is okay, go to next step.
  2. Remove the glove compartment. Turn ignition on. Measure the voltage between terminals HAFR, HAFL of the ECM connector and body ground. See Fig 1. If voltage is 9-14 volts, check and replace ECM. If voltage is not 9-14 volts, check and repair harness or connector between EFI relay and A/F sensors (bank 1, 2 sensor 1) and ECM.
