Confirmation Readiness Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus ES 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Do not shut off engine or results will be invalid.
First Trip Procedure
- Vehicle must be cold and ambient temperature must be 50-95°F (10-35°C).
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) and Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensors have almost the same value.
- Disconnect battery terminal or EFI and ETCS fuses to clear DTCs. Readiness tests will show INCMPL (incomplete).
- Drive vehicle according to LA#4 driving cycle. Note the state of Readiness Tests. See Fig 1. They will change to COMPL as EVAP evaluation monitors operate and if the system passes. This procedure may take approximately 20 minutes or more.
Pass Condition - No Problem Found By ECM
- If EVAP evaluation monitor shows COMPL, go to Non-Continuous Test Screen. See Fig 2.
- To get there, go to Advanced OBD-II, Onboard tests, Non-continuous Tests.
- If all tests in time $02 category tests show Pass, EVAP evaluation monitor has operated and no problem was detected. See Fig 3.
Fail Condition - Problem Detected By ECM
- If EVAP evaluation monitor shows INCMPL, go to Non-Continuous Test Screen. See Fig 4.
- If all tests show Pass, EVAP evaluation monitor did not operate, EVAP evaluation monitor did not finish, or the ECM withheld judgement.
- If one or more test in time $02 category shows Fail, EVAP evaluation monitor did operate and ECM detected a problem. See Fig 5.
- Go to Continuous Tests screen. This is the only place DTCs are listed for the first trip. See Fig 6. The DTC listed may not be valid. A second trip is needed to confirm DTC.
Second Trip Procedure
- Vehicle must be cold and ambient temperature must be 50-95°F (10-35°C).
- Go to Readiness Tests screen.
- Drive vehicle according to LA#4 drive cycle. Note state of EVAP evaluation monitor. See Fig 7. This procedure may take 20 minutes or more.
- If Readiness Tests changes to COMPL, the EVAP evaluation monitor has operated. Check for any stored DTCs. If a DTC has stored, problem has been detected and confirmed by ECM. If no DTC was found, EVAP monitor operated but no problem was detected. See Fig 6.
