Circuit Description

A thermistor built into engine coolant temperature sensor changes resistance value according to engine coolant temperature. Structure of sensor and connections to ECM is same as those of intake air temperature sensor. If DTCs P0115, P0117 or P0118 are set, ECM will operate in a fail-safe mode, in which engine coolant is assumed to be 176°F (80°C). DTC P0115 is set when ECM detects an open or short in ECT sensor circuit for .5 seconds. P0117 indicates a short in ECT sensor circuit for .5 seconds and P0118 indicates an open for .5 seconds.
