Power Door Lock System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus ES 300 and 2002 Lexus ES 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Verify customer problem. Perform customer problem analysis check (power door lock control system). See Fig 1.
  2. Inspect communication function of large-scale body multiplex communication system (BEAN). Check that there is no abnormality in the communication system by inspecting the communication function of the body multiplex communication system with the LEXUS hand-held tester. If a communication problem does not exist, go to next step. If a communication problem exists, repair communication problem as necessary. See MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  3. NOTE: Ensure door lock switches are not pressed when performing this step. DTC B1222 will be displayed when master power door lock switch is pressed. The existence of DTC B1222 without any master door lock switch depressed indicates a circuit malfunction. If DTC B1222 is only displayed when a master power door lock switch is pressed the circuit can be considered normal.
  4. Using Lexus hand-held tester, perform the diagnosis trouble code check. If DTC B1222 is NOT displayed without any master door lock switch depressed, go to next step. If DTC B1222 is displayed without any master door lock switch depressed, check driver's side and passenger's side door lock circuits. See POWER DOOR LOCK ACTIVE TEST (DRIVER DOOR)  and POWER DOOR LOCK ACTIVE TEST (PASSENGER DOOR)  under SYSTEM TESTS.
  5. Determine symptom. Compare symptom to those listed. See POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM PROBLEM SYMPTOMS  table. If symptom does not match any symptom in table, go to next step. If symptom matches any symptom in table, perform appropriate test procedures in order listed under suspected area.
