Switch Test

- Release shorting spring on passenger-side air bag cut-off switch connector. See RELEASING SHORTING SPRING under DIAGNOSTICS. Turn switch to ON position. Check for continuity between switch terminals No. 1 and 2. See Fig 1. Continuity should exist. Check for continuity between switch terminals No. 3 and 4. Continuity should exist. Check for continuity between switch terminals No. 2 and 3. Continuity should not exist. Check for continuity between switch terminals No. 5 and 6. Continuity should not exist.
- Turn switch to OFF position. Check for continuity between switch terminals No. 1 and 2 and between No. 5 and 6. Continuity should exist. Check for continuity between switch terminals No. 3 and 4. Continuity should not exist. Measure resistance between switch terminals No. 2 and 3. Resistance should be 2.42-2.45 ohms. If continuity and resistance is not as specified, replace switch.
