Removal & Installation (Undeployed AIR Bag, Deployed AIR Bag Similar)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
  2. Remove headliner. See HEADLINER . Disconnect head impact air bag module connector. Remove air bag module mounting bolts in order. See Fig 1. Remove No. 1 air bag module mounting bolts. Loosen No. 3 bolt and remove No. 2 mounting bolts. Using No. 3 mounting bolt as pivot point, fold front and rear portions of air bag module together and fasten using appropriate strap or cord. See Fig 2. Remove No. 3 mounting bolt and air bag module. Protect air bag module by placing in plastic bag until installed.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten air bag mounting bolts to specifications. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check AIR BAG warning light to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
