Diagnostic Procedure (Tundra)

  1. Turn ignition off. Access ECM. See Figure. Using DVOM, backprobe appropriate ECM connector. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal NSW. Battery voltage should be present with gearshift lever in any position except "P" or "N".
  2. Ensure 7.5-14 volts is present at terminals "R", "D", (4.7L) "2" and "L" with gearshift lever in corresponding positions.
  3. If voltage is as specified, replace ECM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If voltage is not as specified, inspect PNP switch. See PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, check and repair circuit(s) between PNP switch and ECM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
