Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Toyota Tundra, 2002 Toyota Tacoma, 2002 Toyota Sequoia, 2002 Toyota 4Runner, and 2001 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ensure ignition is off. Access ECM. See Figure-Figure . Disconnect appropriate ECM harness connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ECM connector terminal SL and ground. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . If resistance is 11-15 ohms at 68°F (20°C), replace ECM and retest. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If resistance is not within specification, go to next step.
- Disconnect solenoid connector at transmission. Check continuity between terminal SL of transmission solenoid connector and corresponding terminal of ECM harness connector. See appropriate ECM PIN VOLTAGE TABLE under PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . See Figure and Figure .
- If continuity does not exist, check and repair circuit as needed. If continuity exists, measure resistance between transmission solenoid connector terminal SL and ground. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 11-15 ohms at 68°F (20°C), replace solenoid. If resistance is not as specified, inspect transmission wiring harness. Replace as needed. If harness is okay, replace solenoid.
