O/D Main Switch: Tundra

- If directed here for O/D OFF indicator always on symptom, go to step 5. If directed here for any other symptom, turn ignition off. Disconnect O/D main switch 10-pin connector. Check continuity between O/D main switch connector terminals No. 5 and 10. See Figure. No continuity should exist with O/D main switch ON, and continuity should exist with O/D main switch OFF. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace O/D main switch.
- Remove instrument cluster and inspect O/D OFF indicator circuits and bulb. Repair or replace instrument cluster as needed. If instrument cluster O/D OFF indicator circuits and bulb are okay, go to next step.
- If a Toyota scan tool is not available, go to next step. If a Toyota scan tool is available, connect scan tool to DLC3. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Turn scan tool on. Monitor OVRDRIVE CUT SW2 signal on scan tool. OVRDRIVE CUT SW2 signal should be OFF with O/D main switch depressed, and ON with O/D main switch released. If OVRDRIVE CUT SW2 signal is not as specified, substitute with known good ECM and retest. If OVRDRIVE CUT SW2 signal is as specified, inspect and repair circuit between O/D OFF indicator and ECM. If circuit is okay, replace ECM and retest.
- Turn ignition on. Access ECM. See Figure and Figure. Using DVOM, measure voltage by backprobing between ground and appropriate ECM connector OD2 terminal. See Figure. Voltage should be less than 3 volts with O/D main switch OFF, and 9-14 volts with O/D main switch ON. If voltage is not as specified, substitute with known good ECM and retest. If voltage is as specified, inspect and repair circuit between O/D OFF indicator and ECM. If circuit is okay, replace ECM and retest. - Turn ignition off. Disconnect O/D main switch 3-pin connector. Check continuity between O/D main switch connector terminals No. 1 and 3. See Figure. No continuity should exist with O/D main switch ON, and continuity should exist with O/D main switch OFF. If continuity is not as specified, replace O/D main switch. If continuity is as specified, inspect and repair circuit between O/D OFF indicator and O/D main switch, or O/D OFF indicator and ECM. If circuit is okay, replace ECM and retest.
