Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2002 Lexus LX 470, 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser, and 2001 Lexus LX 470. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove transmission oil pan. See appropriate SERVICING article. Disconnect SLT solenoid connector. See Figure. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between solenoid terminals. If resistance is 5.0-5.6 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 5.0-5.6 ohms, replace SLT solenoid.
- Connect positive lead with 8-10 watt bulb from battery to terminal No. 1 (Green/White wire) of solenoid connector (component side). Connect negative lead to terminal No. 2 (Green/Black wire) of solenoid connector. With power supplied to solenoid, ensure solenoid valve moves outward. With power disconnected, ensure solenoid valve moves inward. If solenoid does not operate as described, replace solenoid. If solenoid operates as described, check and repair wiring harness and connector between SLT solenoid and ECM. If circuits are okay, replace ECM. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
