No. 1 & No. 2 Solenoids

ECM controls transmission shifting by delivering an output signal to operate appropriate solenoid. Solenoids are located on transmission valve body. See Figure. Solenoids are operated in accordance with gearshift lever position. If a solenoid malfunctions, fail-safe gear may be selected. See Fig 1.
NOTE:
In some gears, ECM provides a fail-safe system which will place transmission in designated gear depending on solenoid failure.
