Multiple Disc Brake & Front Planetary Gear: Disassembly

  1. Remove No. 1 one-way clutch from multiple disc brake. Remove front planetary gear with sun gear from multiple disc brake. Remove snap ring from brake drum. Remove flange, discs and plates. Note number and location of components. See Figure.
  2. Using appropriate compressor, compress piston return spring and remove snap ring. Place clutch drum on overdrive support and carefully apply air pressure to piston supply port. Remove 2nd-3rd compound clutch piston.
