Circuit Description

Shifting is performed in combination with the ON and OFF positions of the shift solenoids, controlled by ECM. If an open or short circuit occurs in either shift solenoid, ECM reverts to fail-safe mode. See Figure. If a short occurs in either shift solenoid circuit, ECM stops sending current to the shorted shift solenoid. DTCs are set and the MIL will illuminate when one of the following conditions occur 8 times or more in a trip: the shift solenoid is energized and solenoid resistance is 8 ohms or less (short circuit), or if the shift solenoid is not energized and solenoid resistance is 100 k/ohms or more (open circuit). Possible causes are:
