ECM uses signal from vehicle speed sensor and direct clutch sensor to determine actual gear position. ECM compares actual gear with shift schedule in ECM memory to detect mechanical trouble of solenoids, valve body and/or automatic transaxle. DTC is set during normal driving, if gear required by ECM does not match actual gear after 2 trips have been completed. Possible causes are:
- Shift solenoids No. 1 and/or 2 are stuck open or closed.
- Valve body is contaminated or valve(s) is stuck.
- Internal transaxle malfunction.
