Electronic Control Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon and 2001 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

ECM receives information from various input devices and uses this information to control the shift solenoids No. 1 and 2 on transaxle valve body for transaxle shifting, SLN solenoid to control transaxle line pressure for shift feel, and SL solenoid for TCC lock-up. Note location of ECM, and input and output devices. See Figure. ECM contains a self-diagnostic system, which will store a DTC if a failure or problem exists in electronic control system. DTCs can be retrieved to determine problem area. See PERFORMANCE TESTS .
