O/D Cancel Signal

- Access the ECM. See Figure. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Using DVOM, measure voltage by backprobing between ECM 28-pin connector E7 terminal No. 24 and ground. See Figure. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10-14 volts, substitute ECM with known-good unit and retest.
- Turn the ignition to the OFF position. Disconnect the cruise control ECU 16-pin connector C15, located behind relay panel under driver's side of instrument panel. Turn the ignition to the ON position. Using DVOM, measure voltage between cruise control ECU harness connector C15 terminal No. 14 and ground. See Fig 1. If 10-14 volts is present, replace cruise control ECU and retest. If 10-14 volts is not present, check and repair circuit between cruise control ECU and ECM. If circuit is okay, replace ECM and retest. See appropriate REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
