Removal & Installation (GS 300, GS 430, IS 300 & RX 300)

- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels. Check brake pads through caliper inspection hole for minimum thickness. Replace pads if they are not within specification. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Hold sliding pin on bottom of caliper and remove installation bolt. Without disconnecting flexhose, lift bottom of brake caliper up, and wire aside. See Fig 1.
- Remove anti-squeal springs, brake pads, anti-squeal shims, pad support plates and pad wear indicator plate, if necessary. The anti-squeal springs and support plates can be used again if they have sufficient rebound, no deformation, cracks or wear, and have had all rust, dirt and foreign particles cleaned off.
- Check disc thickness. See FRONT BRAKE DISC .
- Check disc runout. See DISC RUNOUT under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Install pad support plates.
- When replacing worn pads, anti-squeal shims and pad wear indicator plates must be replaced together with pads.
- Apply disc brake grease to both sides of inner anti-squeal shims.
- Install anti-squeal shims to each pad.
- Install inner pad with pad wear indicator plate facing upward. On IS 300 it will face downward.
- Install outer pad.
- Install anti-squeal springs.
- Install caliper. See FRONT BRAKE CALIPER .
