Removal & Installation (LX 470 & RX 300)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Lexus SC 430, 2002 Lexus RX 300, 2002 Lexus LX 470, 2002 Lexus LS 430, and 2002 Lexus IS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove front wheel.
  2. Remove union bolt and 2 gaskets from caliper. Disconnect flexible hose from caliper. Use a container to catch brake fluid as it drains out. For LX 470, see Fig 1. For RX 300, see Fig 2.
  3. Remove 2 mounting bolts and caliper.
  4. On LX 470, remove clip and 2 pins. Remove 2 pad retainer clips. On all vehicles, Remove 2 pads, anti-squeal shims and pad retainers.
  5. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Using new gaskets, install flexible hose and tighten union bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Fill brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  8. Check system for leaks.
