Removal & Installation (IS 300)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Lexus SC 430, 2002 Lexus RX 300, 2002 Lexus LX 470, 2002 Lexus LS 430, and 2002 Lexus IS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Remove union bolt and gasket from caliper. Disconnect flexible hose from caliper. Use a container to catch brake fluid as it drains out. See Fig 1.
Hold sliding pin and remove 2 installation bolts.
Remove caliper from torque plate.
Remove 2 anti-squeal springs and 2 brake pads with 4 anti-squeal shims.
Remove 4 pad support plates.
To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten installation bolts and flexible hose to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Fill brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM . Check system for leaks.
