Removal & Installation (GS 300 & GS 430)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Lexus SC 430, 2002 Lexus RX 300, 2002 Lexus LX 470, 2002 Lexus LS 430, and 2002 Lexus IS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels. Disconnect flexible hose from caliper. Use a container to catch brake fluid as it drains out. Remove union bolt and 2 gaskets from caliper. See Fig 1.
  2. Hold sliding pin and remove 2 caliper installation bolts. Remove caliper from torque plate. Remove pads, anti-squeal shims and support plates.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten installation bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install flexible hose lock securely in lock hole in caliper.
  5. Fill brake reservoir with brake fluid and bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
  6. Check system for leaks.
