Disassembly (LX 470)

  1. Remove hydraulic brake booster assembly. See HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Place hydraulic brake booster in vise with special tool (09630-00014), (09631-00142), (09950-60010), (09951-00190). See Figure.
  3. Disconnect harness connector, remove bolt and clamp, and remove fluid level warning switch connector clamp. See Fig 1.
  4. Remove reservoir cap. Remove set screws and pull out reservoir. Remove grommets.
  5. Loosen lock nut. Remove clevis, lock nut and caliper boot.
  6. Using special tool (09023-00100), remove brake actuator tube No. 1. See Fig 2.
  7. Remove actuator hose.
  8. Remove screws and wire harness from booster and pump.
  9. Remove bolts and accumulator bracket.
  10. Remove bolts and booster pump motor assembly.
  11. Remove bolt and No. 1 pump bracket.
  12. Remove washers, cushions, collars and sleeve.
  13. Remove bolts and No. 2 pump bracket.
  14. Remove cushion from No. 2 pump bracket.
  15. Using 30 mm deep socket wrench, remove oil pressure sensor. If replacing master cylinder pressure sensor, since sensor is non-reusable, use a sensor with supply part No. 89637-30050.
  16. Pressing piston in with a screwdriver, use a pin or an equivalent to push snap ring from hole in body. Remove it with another screwdriver. Remove piston, pulling straight out, not at an angle.
  17. Using special tool (09318-12010), remove accumulator from booster pump.
  18. Remove silencer tube, spring and O-ring.
  19. CAUTION: Never cut at a stretch. When outer body of accumulator is cut, gas discharges. Be careful of flying debris.
  20. To dispose of accumulator, drain high pressure gas from accumulator. Place in a vise. Cover accumulator and a saw with a cloth, and cut accumulator body slowly.
