On-Vehicle Inspection

Inspect drive belt's installation condition.
1. Check that the drive belt fits properly in the ribbed grooves.

5VZ-FE engine: Inspect drive belt tension.
1. Using a belt tension gauge, check the drive belt tension.

  Drive belt tension:
  
  New belt 160 +/-25 lbf
  
  Used belt 100 +/- 20 lbf
NOTE:
- "New belt" refers to a belt which has been used less than 5 minutes on a running engine.
- "Used belt" refers to a belt which has been used on a running engine for 5 minutes or more.
- After installing the drive belt, check that it fits properly in the ribbed grooves.
2UZ-FE engine: Inspect drive belt tension
1. Check that the tension is within A range on the auto tensioner scale.

2. If the tension is not within the A range on the scale, replace the belt with a new one.
  NOTE: When replacing the drive belt with a new one, the belt's tension should be within the B range on the belt tensioner scale.
