On-Vehicle Inspection

- Inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
- Remove the glove compartment door.
- Remove the lower No. 2 finish panel.
- Remove the lower center cover.
- Remove the lower LH finish panel.
- Remove the lower cover. See step 22 underREMOVAL under INSTRUMENT PANEL.
- Remove the blower resistor.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 2 screws and blower resistor.
- Using a gas leak detector, check for leakage.
- If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints or check the evaporator.
- Install the blower resistor with the 2 screws.
- Install the lower cover.
- Install the lower LH finish panel.
- Install the lower center cover.
- Install the lower No. 2 finish panel.
- Install the glove compartment door. See INSTALLATION .
- Inspect expansion valve.
- Check quantity of gas during refrigeration cycle.
- Set on manifold gauge set.
- Run engine.
- Run the engine at 1,500 rpm for at least 5 minutes.
- Then check that the high pressure reading is 1.37 - 1.57 Mpa (14 - 16 kgm/cm2 , 199 - 288 psi).
- Check expansion valve.
- If the expansion valve is faulty, the low pressure reading will drop to 0 kPa (0 kgf/cm2
, 0 psi).NOTE: When the lower pressure drop to 0 kPa (0 kgf/cm2 , 0 psi), feel the receiver's IN and OUT sides for no temperature difference.
- If the expansion valve is faulty, the low pressure reading will drop to 0 kPa (0 kgf/cm2
, 0 psi).
- Inspect thermistor resistance.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Measure resistance between terminals.
- Standard resistance: 1,500 Ω at 25° C (77° F)
- If resistance is not as specified, replace the thermistor.
