Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Service check mode (See  PRE-CHECK  ). 
    1. NG : Troubleshoot for each diagnosis. 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  2. Check wire harness between navigation ECU and stereo component amplifier. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the navigation ECU and stereo component amplifier connectors.

    CHECK: 

    1. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal AUI+ of the navigation ECU and terminal FL+ of the stereo component amplifier.
    2. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal AUI- of the navigation ECU and terminal FL-of the stereo component amplifier.

    OK: 

    Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  3. Check navigation system voice. 
    1. NG : Replace stereo component amplifier (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  4. Check stereo component amplifier. 

    CHECK: 

    Check the voltage of terminal N-MU.

    OK: 

    N-MU: See "Stereo component amplifier" of "TERMINAL OF ECU" 

    1. NG : Go to step   7 . 
    2. OK : Go to step 
  5. Check wire harness between navigation ECU and driver side door speaker. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the navigation ECU and driver side door speaker connectors.

    CHECK: 

    1. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal AUO+ of the navigation ECU and terminal 1 of the driver side door speaker.
    2. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal AUO- of the navigation ECU and terminal 2 of the driver side door speaker.

    OK: 

    Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  6. Check driver side door speaker. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the driver side door speaker connectors.

    CHECK: 

    Check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.

    OK: 

    Resistance: 2 - 9 Ω. 

    1. NG : Replace driver side door speaker. 
    2. OK : Replace navigation ECU (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
  7. Check the navigation ECU. 

    CHECK: 

    Check voltage terminal MUTE.

    OK: 

    MUTE: See "Navigation ECU" of "TERMINAL OF ECU". 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Replace the navigation ECU (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
