Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check radio and player. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the radio and player connector.

    CHECK: 

    Check the voltage of terminal +B.

    OK: 

    +B: 10 - 14 V 

    Check the voltage of terminal ACC when the ignition switch is in ACC or ON position.

    OK: 

    ACC: 10 - 14 V 

    Check continuity at terminal GND.

    OK: 

    GND: Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  2. Check stereo component tuner. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the stereo component tuner connector.

    CHECK: 

    Check the voltage of terminal +B.

    OK: 

    +B: 10 - 14 V 

    Check the voltage of terminal ACC when the ignition switch is in ACC or ON position.

    OK: 

    ACC: 10 - 14 V 

    Check continuity at terminal GND.

    OK: 

    GND: Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  3. Check wire harness between radio and player and stereo component amplifier. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the radio and player and stereo component amplifier connectors.

    CHECK: 

    1. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal R+ of the radio and player and terminal R+ of the stereo component amplifier.
    2. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal R- of the radio and player and terminal R- of the stereo component amplifier.
    3. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal L+ of the radio and player and terminal L+ of the stereo component amplifier.
    4. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal L- of the radio and player and terminal L- of the stereo component amplifier.

    OK: 

    Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace radio and player (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  4. Check the wire harness between stereo component tuner and stereo component amplifier. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the stereo component tuner and stereo component amplifier connectors.

    CHECK: 

    1. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal R+ of the stereo component tuner and terminal MR+ of the stereo component amplifier.
    2. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal R- of the stereo component tuner and terminal MR- of the stereo component amplifier.
    3. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal L+ of the stereo component tuner and terminal ML+ of the stereo component amplifier.
    4. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal L- of the stereo component tuner and terminal ML- of the stereo component amplifier.

    OK: 

    Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace stereo component tuner (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Replace stereo component amplifier (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
