Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Pad switch operation check. (To examine whether audio system can be operated with the radio and player. 
    1. OK : Go to step   3 . 
    2. NG : Go to next step. 
  2. Check radio and player. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the radio and player connector.

    CHECK: 

    Check the voltage of terminal +B.

    OK: 

    +B: 10 - 14 V 

    CHECK: 

    Check the voltage of terminal ACC when the ignition switch is in ACC or ON position.

    OK: 

    ACC: 10 - 14 V 

    CHECK: 

    Check continuity at terminal. GND.

    OK: 

    GND: Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Replace radio and player (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
  3. Service check mode (Gateway ECU) (See  PRE-CHECK  ). 
    1. NG : Check gateway system. (Steering pad switch) 
    2. NCON: Go to next step. 
  4. Check gateway ECU. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the gateway ECU connector.

    CHECK: 

    Check the voltage of terminal +B.

    OK: 

    +B: 10 - 14 V 

    CHECK: 

    Check the voltage of terminal ACC when the ignition switch is in ACC or ON position.

    OK: 

    ACC: 10 - 14 V 

    CHECK: 

    Check continuity at terminal GND.

    OK: 

    GND: Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  5. Check wire harness between gateway ECU and radio and player. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Disconnect the gateway ECU and radio and player connectors.

    CHECK: 

    1. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal GTX+ (9) of the gateway ECU and terminal TXS+ (3) of the radio and player.
    2. Check continuity of the wire harness between terminal GTX- (20) of the gateway ECU and terminal TXS- (6) of the radio and player.

    OK: 

    Continuity 

    1. NG : Replace or repair wire harness or connector (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    2. OK : Replace gateway ECU (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).
