Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus LS 430. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

In case of using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start the inspection from step 1 and in case of not using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start from step  2.

  1. Check the door courtesy switch using LEXUS hand-held tester. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.

    CHECK: 

    Check the door courtesy switch using DATA LIST.

    1. OK : Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on problem symptoms table (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ). 
    2. NG : Go to next step. 
  2. Check operation of door courtesy light. 

    CHECK: 

    Check that the door courtesy light comes on when a door is opened, and goes off when the door is closed.

    OK: 

    Must be operated normally.

    1. OK : Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on problem symptoms table (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ). 
    2. NG : Go to next step. 
  3. Check courtesy light (See  INSPECTION  ). 
    1. NG : Replace courtesy light. 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  4. Check door courtesy switch (See  INSPECTION  ). 
    1. NG : Replace door courtesy switch. 
    2. OK : Go to next step. 
  5. Check wire harness and connector between courtesy light and passenger door ECU, and those between courtesy switch and passenger door ECU (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ). 
    1. NG : Repair or replace wire harness or connector. 
    2. OK : Proceed to next circuit inspection shown on problem symptoms table (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).
