Knock Sensors

  1. Knock sensors No. 1 and 2 are located below intake manifold on cylinder block. See Fig 1. Remove intake manifolds for access to knock sensor. See KNOCK SENSOR under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article for removal of intake manifolds.
  2. Disconnect electrical connector at knock sensor. Using ohmmeter, check that no continuity exists between electrical terminal on knock sensor and body of knock sensor. Replace knock sensor if continuity exists.
