Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus ES 330. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK FUNCTIONS 
    1. Check that the wireless door lock functions by the operation of the transmitter switch.

      HINT: If the wireless door LOCK/UNLOCK operation can be done, it means that the wireless instruction from the transmitter is properly input to the theft warning ECU.

      NG: FLOW CHART (See  ONLY WIRELESS CONTROL FUNCTION IS INOPERATIVE (PREPARE NEW OR NORMAL TRANSMITTER OF THE SAME TYPE VEHICLE)   ) 

      OK: Go to next step. 

  2. CHECK HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS 
    1. Check that the turn signal light is blinking when the hazard warning signal switch is pressed.

      NG: Go to LIGHTING SYSTEM (See  LIGHTING SYSTEM - DIAGNOSIS  ) 

      OK: Go to next step. 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Active test
      1. Check that the wireless buzzer sounds by the active test.

        Standard:

        OK: Go to step   6 

        NG: Go to next step. 

  4. INSPECT WIRELESS DOOR LOCK BUZZER 
    1. Check the continuity.
      NOTE:
      • The buzzer circuit is built in the body ECU but not in the buzzer itself.
      • If applying the battery voltage directly to the buzzer, the buzzer does not sound.

      1. Check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the buzzer.

        Standard: Approximately 1 kΩ 

        NG: REPLACE WIRELESS DOOR LOCK BUZZER 

        OK: Go to next step. 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Disconnect the K4 wireless door lock buzzer controller connector and K1 wireless door lock buzzer connector, and check the continuity between the disconnected connectors.

      Standard:

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to next step. 

  6. INSPECT WIRELESS DOOR LOCK BUZZER CONTROLLER (See  INSPECTION  ) 

    NG: REPLACE WIRELESS DOOR LOCK BUZZER CONTROLLER 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  7. CHECK WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Disconnect the B5 body ECU connector and K4 wireless door lock buzzer controller connector, and check the continuity between the disconnected connectors.

      Standard:

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

      OK: REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY
