Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus ES 330. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. PERFORM ACTUATOR CHECK 
    1. Warm up engine.
    2. Set to actuator check mode (see PRE-CHECK  ).
    3. Press the DEF switch and change it to step operation.
    4. Press the DEF switch and check that the air flow by hand.

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE(SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   ) 

    NG: Go to next step. 

  2. INSPECT MODE DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSY 
    1. Remove the mode damper servo sub-assy.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 and negative (-) lead to terminal 5 then check that the lever turns to "DEF" position.
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4 then check that the lever turn to "FACE" position.

    NG: REPLACE MODE DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSY 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR(BETWEEN MODE DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSY AND HEATER CONTROL HOUSING SUB-ASSY) 
    1. Remove A/C amplifier with connector.
    2. Measure voltage between terminal AOF of A/C amplifier and body ground when mode switch is operated, as shown in the chart.

      HINT: When you out voltage measurement, please measure, while a servomotor operates.

    3. Measure voltage between terminal AOD of A/C amplifier and body ground when mode switch is operated, as shown in the chart.

    HINT: When you out voltage measurement, please measure, while a servomotor operates.

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: CHECK AND REPLACE HEATER CONTROL HOUSING SUB-ASSY
