Inspection Procedure

HINT:
According to the DATA LIST displayed by the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester, you can read the value of the switch, sensor, actuator and so on without parts removal. Reading the DATA LIST as the first step of troubleshooting is one method to shorten labor time.
- Warm up the engine.
- Turn the ignition switch off.
- Connect the OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Push the "ON" button of the OBD II scan tool or the hand-held tester.
- When you use hand-held tester:
Select the item "DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/DATA LIST".
- According to the display on tester, read the "DATA LIST".
- INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Measure resistance according to the value(s) in the figure Fig 2 below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

NG: REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY (SEE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY (U151E) )
OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSY
- Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Disconnect the transmission control switch connector of shift lock control unit assy.
- Measure resistance according to the value(s) in the figure Fig 4 below when the shift lever is moved to each position.

NG: REPLACE SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSY (SEE FLOOR SHIFT ASSY )
OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH -ECM)
- Connect the transmission control switch connector of shift lock control unit assy.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the figure Fig 6 below when the shift lever is moved to each position.
