OBD II scan tool (excluding hand-held tester):

- CHECK OPERATION OF STOP LAMP
- Check if the stop lamps go on and off normally when the brake pedal is depressed and released.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- Check for continuity between each pair of the terminals.

NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
OK: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- Check for continuity between each pair of the terminals.
- INSPECT ECM (STP AND ST1- VOLTAGE)
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage between the specified terminals of the E7 and E8 ECM connectors.
Standard:
OK: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS )
NG: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LAMP SWITCH - ECM)
- Disconnect the S13 stop lamp switch connector.
- Disconnect the E7 ECM connector.
- Check the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):

Standard (Check for short):
- Reconnect the stop lamp switch connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
