Diagnostic Aids

  1. Bank 1 refers to bank that includes cylinder No. 1 (RH).
  2. Bank 2 refers to bank that does not include cylinder No. 1 (LH).
  3. Sensor 1 refers to sensor closest to engine body.
  4. Sensor 2 refers to sensor farthest from engine body.
  5. Read freeze frame data using hand-held tester or OBD-II scan tool, as freeze frame data records engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it is useful to determine whether vehicle was running or stopped, engine was warmed up or not, air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, etc. at time of malfunction.
