Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Sienna. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Is DTC output? 

    Check DTC. See  b Or  c .

    1. YES: Repair circuit indicated by the code output. 
    2. NO: Go to next step. 
  2. Check that the ECU connectors are securely connected to the ECU. 
    1. NO: Connect the connector to the ECU. 
    2. YES: Go to next step. 
  3. Check voltage between terminals IG1 and GND of ABS actuator connector. 

    Preparation: 

    Disconnect ABS actuator connector.

    CHECK: 

    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2. Measure voltage between terminals IG1 (3) - GND (1, 23) of ABS actuator harness side connector.

    OK: 

    Voltage: 10 - 14 V  .

    1. NG: Check for open and short circuit in harness and connector between ECU-IG fuse and ABS actuator. See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  . 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. Check battery positive voltage. 

    OK: 

    Voltage: 10 - 14 V  .

    1. NG: Check and repair the charging system. See  CHARGING  . 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. Check the Tc terminal circuit. 
    1. NG: Repair or replace the Tc terminal circuit. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  6. Check operation of the ABS warning light. 

    CHECK: 

    1. Using service wire, connect terminal WA (30) and GND1 (1) of ABS actuator connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    OK: 

    ABS warning light goes off 

    1. OK: Check and replace ABS actuator assembly. 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  7. Check for open circuit in harness and connector between combination meter and ABS actuator. See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  . 
    1. OK: Repair or replace combination meter assembly. 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 

    Repair or replace harness or connector.
