Inspection Procedure

NOTE: Start the inspection from step  1 in case of using the TOYOTA hand-held tester and start from step  2 in case of not using the TOYOTA hand-held tester.
  1. Do Active Test Of Toyota Hand-Held Tester (ABS Solenoid Relay Operation) 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the TOYOTA hand-held tester.
    2. Check the operation sound of the ABS solenoid relay when operating it with the TOYOTA hand-held tester.
      1. OK: The Operation Sound Of The ABS Solenoid Relay Should Be Heard. 
    1. OK: Go To Step   4 
    2. NG: Go To Next Step  .
  2. Check Terminal Voltage 
    1. Remove the ABS solenoid relay from engine room R/B.
    2. Measure the voltage between terminal 1 of engine room R/B (for ABS solenoid relay) and body ground.
      1. OK: Voltage: 10-14 V

    1. NG: Go To Step   8 
    2. OK: Go To Next Step  .
  3. Inspect ABS Solenoid Relay

    1. Check continuity between each terminal of ABS solenoid relay.

      OK:  See specifications in Fig 3.

    2. Apply battery positive voltage between terminals 1 and 2.
    3. Check continuity between terminals 3 and 5 of ABS motor relay.

      OK:  See specifications in Fig 4.

    1. OK: Go To Next Step  .
    2. NG: Replace ABS Solenoid Relay 
  4. Check Continuity (ABS Solenoid Relay - Skid Control ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the connector (S13) from the skid control ECU.
    2. Check continuity between terminal 3 of engine room R/B (for ABS solenoid relay) and terminal AST of skid control ECU.
      1. OK: Continuity

    1. OK: Go To Next Step  .
    2. NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Brake Actuator Assy. 
  5. Check Harness And Connector (ABS Solenoid Relay - Skid Control ECU).  See HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS .
    1. OK: Go To Next Step  .
    2. NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector 
  6. Check DTC Once More (See  PRE-CHECK  )

    1. A : Go To Next Step  .
    2. B : No Problem 
  7. Check Contact Condition (Each Connection) 
    1. OK: Check And Replace Skid Control ECU Assy. 
    2. NG: Check And Repair Harness And Connector 
  8. Inspect Fuse (ABS 1 Of FL Block) 
    1. Remove ABS1 fuse from the FL BLOCK.
    2. Check continuity of ABS1 fuse.
      1. OK: Continuity

    1. OK: Check And Repair Harness Or Connector 
    2. NG: Replace Fuse
