Testing TP Sensor

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2002 Lexus SC 430, 2002 Lexus RX 300, 2002 Lexus LX 470, 2002 Lexus LS 430, and 2002 Lexus IS 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect electrical connector from TP sensor. Note electrical terminals on TP sensor. See Fig 1-Fig 3 .
  2. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals VC and E2 on TP sensor. See Fig 1 and Fig 3 . Replace TP sensor if resistance is not within specification. See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE (ES300, GS300, IS300, GS430, LS430 & LX470)  table.
