Inspection Procedure

  1. Perform calibration of torque sensor zero point  . See  - CALIBRATION OF TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT.
  2. Is DTC C1516/16 output? 

    Check DTC. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .

    1. NO:  No problem.
    2. YES:  Go to  3.
  3. Is DTC C1532/32 output? 
    1. YES:  Check and replace EMPS ECU. See HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
    2. NO:  Go to 4.
  4. Perform calibration of torque sensor zero point again  . See  - CALIBRATION OF TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT.
  5. Is DTC C1516/16 output after attempted 3 times or more? 
    1. YES:  Replace the power steering gear assembly with motor. See STEP 12 - REMOVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEAR .
    2. NO:  No problem.
